Delhi Government to Extend the Financial Aid up to Rs 3 lakh for Up-Coming Sports Talents

The Delhi government's Department of Education (DoE) is all set to extend the financial assistance up to Rs. 3 lakh and specialised training to sporting talents in city schools

The financial assistance is only for the students studying in the schools of Delhi who are bonafide residents of Delhi for the last three years

The Policy covers the following

  • An annual financial support of Rs. 2 lakh per annum will be provided to school students up to the age of 14 years, while those above this age would get Rs. 3 lakh per annum as support.
  • The financial assistance would be provided to each talent initially for two years and then a performance review would be taken to take a call on the continuance of the assistance
  • The creation of 'Centres of Excellence' throughout Delhi for specialised assistance with coaches, physiotherapists, and nutritionists.

A Committee of Experts of at least five members with sports background with impeccable integrity and credentials would be constituted for the implementation of the policy, and it would then decide the students to be selected for support under the policy.
