The Inaugural Para-National Games to be Held at Bangalore Under Khelo India Scheme

The first Para-National Games for differently abled athletes will be held under Khelo India scheme in June-July in Bengaluru. According to the technical handbook issued by the sports ministry, the tentative dates would be from 28th June to July 7th, 2018 & to be competed among the states.

The multi-sports event is going to be conducted under Paralympic Committee of India. The Para-National Games are funded by the under Khelo India scheme.  The games will be considered as the selection trial of the Para Asian Games to be held in Indonesia in October.

Age group of 16 to 40 (men and women) are invited to take part in 10 disciplines such as:

  • Para-athletics
  • Badminton
  • Chess
  • Blind judo
  • Para powerlifting
  • Shooting para-sport
  • Para-swimming
  • Table tennis
  • Wheelchair basketball
  • Wheelchair fencing

Highlights of Para-National Games:

  • Total medal events - 416, including 220 for men, 180 for women and 16 mixed.
  • Total participants – 2192, including 1311 for men, 837 women and 44 for mixed events.

Venues: Kanteerava Stadium, Kanteerava Indoor Stadium, SAI Centre Bangaluru and Karnataka Badminton Association Stadium.
