Arjuna Awardee Nisha Millet –Infinite Spirit to Swimming

Arjuna Awardee Nisha Millet, a 34-year-old is the only Indian athlete to have won 14 gold medals at the National Games in 1999. Nisha was born on 20th May 1982 and she was the only woman in the 2000 Sydney Olympics swim team representing India

Achievements:

  • In 1994, Nisha clinched 5 freestyle gold medals at the Senior National Level while India’s top swimmers competed along with her.
  • Nisha started her International medal hunting by winning her first gold at the Asian Age Group Championships Hong Kong medal in 1994.
  • She represented India in 1998 Asian Games Thailand, World Championships (Perth 1999, Indianapolis 2004) and grabbed the medals for the country.
  • She won Prime Minister’s Best Sportswoman Award twice.

Nisha is the director of Nisha Millet Swimming Academy and as she understands the dynamics of competitive swimming. She has been working as the swimming instructor as she helps swimmers to overcome the hurdles with ease.
