Srihari Natraj, who made a name for himself at KYIG 2018 and went on to compete at the Gold Coast Commonwealth Games, clinched his first gold medal of the ongoing Khelo India Youth Games in the 200 meter freestyle Under-21 category here on Thursday.
The lanky Karnataka swimmer completed the race in a minute and 53.22 seconds.
The 800-meter freestyle Under-17 girls category saw Prachi Tokas of Delhi take the gold in a little over then 9.5 minutes.
Thursday was dominated by Delhi’s swimmers who took away 11 medals which included four gold, two silver and five bronze while Karnataka were next best with nine (four gold, three silver and two bronze). Maharashtra were third with five medals in all that were burnished by three golds.
Other winners on the day were Sanjay Jayakrishnan of Karnataka in the 200m U-17 boys freestyle, Shivangi Sharma of Delhi (200m U-17 girls freestyle), Bhavika Dugar of Tamil Nadu (200m U-21 girls freestyle), Swadesh mondal of Delhi (100m boys U-17 breaststroke), Kareena Shankta of Maharashtra (100m U-17 girls breaststroke), Karnataka’s Likith S.P. (boys U-21 100m breaststroke), Maharashtra’s Sharon Shaju (girls U-21 100m breaststroke), Delhi’s Aryan Varnekar (boys U-17 50m butterfly), Nina Venkatesh of Karnataka (girls U-17 50m butterfly), Maharashtra’s Mihir Ambre (boys U-21 50m butterfly), Tamil Nadu’s A.V. Jayveena (girls U-21 50m butterfly), and Bhavika Dugar of TN (girls U-21 800m freestyle).
